Verizon Operation Convergent Response 2018

In November 2018, a massive multi-scenario simulation kicked off at the Guardian Center in Perry Georgia. Verizon brought together hundreds of first responders and government managers, dozens of cutting edge technologies, and observers from the public, private, and non-profit sectors to demonstrate how advances in telecommunications can help first responders achieve their missions.

Bounce Imaging was lucky to be included in the Active Shooter scenario, which put simulated an attack on a large outdoor concert and the aftermath of that. The unfortunately all-too-timely simulation put two SWAT teams from different counties in the position of responding to an active threat.

Bounce Imaging Explorer cameras were used by both teams to clear their entries and find the shooter. From the first floor, the teams used the Explorer as a tactical pole camera, raising it from the first floor to use its 360-degree capabilities to clear the second floor. Transitioning from the second floor to the third floor, the second team used the Explorer as a tactical throwable camera, tossing it over the railing to gain 360-degree situational awareness.

Because the Explorer can provide orientation information, the team was not only able to determine that one of the shooters was surrendering but also WHERE the second shooter was standing. This allowed them to know which way to turn immediately off the stairs and engage the shooter, ending the scenario.

We at Bounce Imaging are grateful to Verizon and to the two teams participating in the scenario for the chance to participate in this exercise.

Look forward to participating again at #OCR2019, November 19-21, 2019!
